TYEE Master Chef, Amelia Vallabh. A Young Entrepreneur and a Qualified Chef who runs the well known Taufa'ahau Village Restaurant and Catering Services, JR Property, JR Hire, Savoy Dry Cleaning, Tau'ahau Village Backpackers and so many other business ventures in the Kingdom of Tonga.
​CONGRATULATIONS to TYEE Contestants who have put in the effort and time to Submit their Recipes Online to enter the TYEE Submit a Recipe Challenge which closed on 26 August 2020.

​We are excited to announce our very first four Contestants for our very first TYEE GO GREEN! Recipe Competition for 2020 here in Tonga. They are:
  • F. Taumeifuna (Accepted)
  • O. Anau (Accepted)
  • T. Banks (Accepted)
  • L. Fa'ao (Accepted)​

Monday, 7th September the Contestants gathered for their first briefing about the Challenge and what to expect moving forward. We are equally excited to introduce our TYEE MASTER CHEF, Amelia Vallabh of Taufa'ahau Village Restaurant and Catering for her constant support and generosity to partner with TYEE.  Not only as TYEE Master Chef but also Amelia is the Master Chef who is opening up her Restaurant facility in the heart of Nuku'alofa to host this event and offer her expertise and wealth of international and local industry experience to guide the Contestants throughout the challenge and the live cooking competitions. It is young and intelligent entrepreneurs who are talented, risk takers, passionate and driven like Amelia that we wish to highlight and promote across the TYEE platforms as inspiration for our youth who have dreams and goals that they aspire to. Together, we are on!
​The first Cooking Competition for the Contestants will kick off next Tuesday, 15th September 2020 at Taufa'ahau Village Restaurant in the heart of Nuku'alofa. This will be an "Invite Only" function for the Contestants' first Menu Tasting and Judging Event. The Two Winners from this round will be Competing against each other at the Final Tasting & Judging Event on Friday, 25th September 2020.  
 
The final Event will be a Private Function of Recipe Cocktail Tastings. Tickets to this Private Function is available for purchase at $50/Ticket from TYEE Office at L2 Fifita House Building, Mailetaha, or from TYEE GO GREEN! Workspace at Taufa’ahau Village, Nuku’alofa.  Business Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm. Tel: 8425259 / 7706340.

TYEE GO GREEN! Recipe Challenge is back. We thank you for your patience and understanding.  We are pleased to team up with Taufa'ahau Village Restaurant in the heart of Nuku'alofa to host this exciting challenge! Please note, that all the Recipe Submissions received prior to this are all included in this challenge,  there is no need to re-submit them.  Read through this page to see the criteria and the Amazing Prizes we have in store for the Winners! Challenge yourself! Think about health. Think local produce. Be Creative. Be Innovative.  Join us in the movement to raise awareness about the Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in Tonga in partnership with TONGA HEALTH and RISE-n-SHINE AUSTRALIA.

​We encourage you to enter TYEE GO GREEN! Recipe Challenge Contests for the first time in Tonga for the Youth to win big prizes in cash, gift vouchers and for a chance to go on  TYEE Youth Live Cooking Contests.

Recipes will be judged through five categories as shown on the photo below.  All qualifying entrants will be judged by a panel of local restaurant experts. The winners will have chance to compete for the August-September 2020 Grand Final Prizes, with another chance to win the prize for best innovative recipe to be published and sold at a selected local restaurant.  Curious about what this will look like?  Starting 1st July 2020 to 26th August 2020: Submit A Recipe below and enjoy the challenge.

Are you a natural creator in transforming your local farmers' and fish market finds into something truly authentic and special?  We are looking for recipes that really stretch your creativity. TYEE Recipe Challenge Contests Rule:
  1. Eligibility - All entrants must be local youth citizens / legal residents of Tonga within the aged 18 to 35.  Youth school leavers and job seekers are encouraged to enter. Entrants from Tongatapu, Vava'u, Ha'apai and Eua are all welcome.
  2. Entry Criteria - The contests started from the 1st July 2020.  Deadline for all entries will be Wednesday, 26 August 2020.  You can select one, or more from the five categories [Kumala, Ika,  Siaine, Niumata, or Limu Tanga'u] that you want to create a recipe(s) for.  All entries must be the original work of the entrant and not copied from or previously published.  You can submit your entry online by using the "Submit A Recipe" button above.  If you have any question, please contact TYEE Office 8425259  |  7706340. 
  3. All qualifying and winning top 2 recipes per category will be announced on Friday, 28th August 2020.  Each top 2 per category will be competing at the TYEE Youth Live Cooking Contests Event.  The entrants will be required to be available for their cooking sessions which will be provided to you on the announcement date.  Each recipe must be within an hour long to cook.  Each recipe tasting will be judged based on the following criteria;  Taste, Presentation,  Creativity/Innovative, Crowd Appeal.
  4. The Top 5 Winners in 1st Places for each of the five categories will be announced thereafter and they will be competing once again at  the Grand Final; Live Cooking Contests and Tasting Event in September.  The top two winners; 1st and 2nd Places will be announced and awarded at this same Event.
  5. Prizes:  Combination of Cash and Gift Vouchers .
