TYEE in collaboration with the Breadfruit Consulting successfully completed a two days introductory mentoring workshops in Nuku'alofa on 11 & 12 November 2019 facilitated by Mr. Chris Elphick of Breadfruit Consulting. The workshops were focusing on developing a TYEE Youth Mentoring Programme to be known as 'Mentor Me' and the skills and attitudes required to becoming a Mentor and a Mentee.  TYEE is pleased with the responses from potential mentors, our young mentees and young entrepreneurs who attended the two days workshop.  TYEE is grateful for Elphick's expertise,  contribution and support towards the development of this important programme.

The Mentor Me is the fourth pillar of TYEE's vision and mission;

To become the leading youth employment and entrepreneurship support service organisation in Tonga.

To bridge the gap by building the capacity of the youth to embark on their journey, to make a life they aspire to live through appropriate and relevant connections to work-readiness and life-skills training opportunities, employment opportunities, creating employment opportunities through entrepreneurship (and information and communications technology ICT) and mentorship support.

in which the Mentor Me will not be a stand alone programme, but rather it will be linking to TYEE's existing training opportunities, employment and entrepreneurship programmes with the goals 1). to help young Tongan entrepreneurs grow their businesses in a sustainable way, 2). help young Tongan people develop their own futures and careers.

There is a saying that successful people never reach their goals, alone! This is very much align with why TYEE is focusing and investing in Mentor Me to be important and valuable to our young people's own-self development, futures, careers and businesses.
Next steps, there is still work to be done and we need your support.  The Mentor Me programme process and procedure will be rolling out soon in Tongatapu including a vigorous recruitment process for a local Programme Manager, Mentors and Mentees in collaboration with the Breadfruit Consulting. We aim to launch the Mentor Me programme next year 2020.  For more information, please do not hesitate to contact Lusia Latu-Jones at TYEE office via email: [lusia.latu@tyeetonga.org]

TYEE is proud and grateful to collaborate with Breadfruit Consulting (view their website here) to help us in developing TYEE's Mentoring Programme 2020.  In referencing to our primary objective item number 2;

"to provide ongoing mentoring support for youth who are going through or have completed TYEE programmes"
We are pleased that this is another important core program to work together with Breadfruit Consulting and tap into their Pacific Region's knowledge, experience and expertise in this field in developing TYEE mentoring programme that is sustainable for Tonga. The mentoring programme aims to support both TYEE's visions for our youth and business community in Youth Employment & Youth Entrepreneurship.

TYEE together with Breadfruit Consulting will be holding couple of workshops in November 2019 to introduce our Mentoring Programme to both mentors and mentees - people who wants to become a mentor, and people who needs a mentor.  Stay tuned!
