AUGUST 12th of Every Year is International Youth Day! This year's 2019 International Youth Day's theme is "Transforming Education, and Tonga has localised this theme to cater for Tonga Youth Stakeholders needs in education in which is translated into; "Fakalakalaka e founga ‘o e ako ki hono fakaivia e mo’ui lotolu".
This year's theme highlights efforts to make education more inclusive and accessible for all youth, including efforts by youth themselves. Rooted in Goal 4 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable development - "to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all". International Youth Day 2019 will examine how Governments, young people, youth-led and youth-focused organisations, as well as other stakeholders are transforming education so that it becomes a powerful tool to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Agenda 4 of the 2030 SDG is one of the TYEE's focused areas, working with a mission; "To bridge the gap by building the capacity of the youth to embark on their journey, to make a life they aspire to live through appropriate and relevant connections to work-readiness and life-skills training opportunities, employment opportunities, creating employment opportunities through entrepreneurship (and information and communications technology (ICT), and mentorship support".
