WORKSHOPS TO BOOST YOUTH JOB-SEEKERS' CHANCES IN TONGA

The individual who says it is not possible should move out of the way of those doing it.

The same voice that says "give up" can also be trained to say "keep going".  Competition for entry-level positions in whatever profession, industry or sector is higher than ever. It does not help you when you set out on your bus journey without knowing how to get where you are going is never a good start and idea. Without clear direction, the chances of you arriving at your destination anytime soon is at best slim or at worst does not exist. It is exactly the same in the job market, defining your destination while enjoying your journey and taking consistent steps towards your career goal is a recipe for success in a competitive job-market is what most of you job-seekers miss.

Me'a mai koe 'oku ke fiema'u e tokoni ki he kumi ngaue pe ko e apply ki ha ngaue 'oku lolotonga tu'uaki.

Let us get together, share a coffee  and learn about how to help you boost your confidence and communication skills as you prepare to face the challenge and get in the door. The first Workshop will start on Wednesday, 9th November 2016  with Lusia Latu; Founder/President, TYEE.  Our workshop is based on sitting between candidates and employers as professional recruiter for many years.  It's about real-life experience, not textbook theory.  Places are limited. You will find our contact details here on our Contact Page!

We look forward to working with you.

Bringing financial literacy to Tonga Youth Job Seekers through ANZ MoneyMinded

The ANZ Bank MoneyMinded together with the Tonga Youth Employment & Entrepreneurship (TYEE) successfully completed its two days' workshop on Friday, 21 October 2016 at TYEE Office in Nuku'alofa with MoneyMinded Facilitator, Mrs. Unouna Telefoni.

What is MoneyMinded?
MoneyMinded is an award-winning financial literacy program designed to help people build their financial skills, knowledge, and confidence.  Developed by ANZ, government groups, and education experts, MoneyMinded has helped thousands of people worldwide including Tonga.  MoneyMinded is not to promote  ANZ products and services rather, it focuses on helping people build their skills in areas such as:
  • Planning for the Future
  • Planning and Budgeting
  • Saving and Spending
  • Everyday Banking.

It's important to break the barrier about talking about money; whether it's about creating a budget, reducing a debt, and saving more regularly for future plans MoneyMinded can help you get there.  Bringing financial literacy to youth job seekers will not only help youth  get a better start in their financial goals, but they will bring home that discussion to their families.  Opening up a dialogue for young people  and family members is a great way to promote financial empowerment among who did not grow up talking about money. Starting financial literacy as early as possible and helping youth to apply the learning as quickly as possible are keys to financial literacy program success.

"If you can put away $10 out of every $100 you get and keep it going for the next 10 years, you are already on your way to financial freedom".  The CEO of ANZ Tonga shared some insight and inspiring words with the youth on the last day of the workshop.

"This is the second time round for the MoneyMinded workshop to be held with Youth Job Seekers at TYEE.  TYEE sees the value added skills development of this program in filling the gap for job seekers and Tonga youth at large.  It is also an important program to TYEE Work Readiness with Basic Life Skills Training Program especially in delivering a more youth based training.  We plan to run our youth training program together with the ANZ MoneyMinded workshops to better support our youth for the working world".  -TYEE President expressed at the workshop.   She also thanked the CEO of ANZ Bank and the HR Manager for their support.

Present at the Participants Certificate Presentation were;  Bernie Poort, CEO of ANZ Bank; Soana Lala, HR Manager of ANZ Bank, President of TYEE and Staff.
