NUKU'ALOFA, 24th JUNE 2020: Tonga Youth Trade Hub (TYTH) is an initiative of TYEE in their continued effort and commitment to address the rising youth unemployment challenges in Tonga due to the impact of COVID-19 and TC Harold.
TYTH is about bringing our youth job-seekers together to provide services that they love and are good at in exchange for what they need during this difficult time. On the other hand, we aim to also bring our customers together to the same online platform to utilise our youth services at 'no cost to all customers' - both local and from abroad. The youth services will be provided primarily here in Tongatapu, and we also aim to reach out to the outer islands in due course. The TYTH is managed by a capable TYTH core team who are based at TYEE Head Office, Fifita House Building, Mailetaha, Nuku'alofa. We warmly invite you to visit our initial TYTH website [click here to view] for more information about TYTH. When you are on the TYTH website, you will find a basic user friendly menu and it's very easy to use. Simply scroll down to the Youth Profiles on the website and select the service you need by clicking the "Request This Service". Then leave the rest to TYTH. As supporters and customers of TYEE, we encourage you to try it out, you have nothing to lose, and please share with us your experience! We will continue to develop the remainder of the TYTH website menu as we progress with the work at hand. We would like to acknowledge our current and new loyal Partners, Sponsors and Supporters for having faith in TYEE over the years that has enabled us to get to where we are today. As a not for profit youth NGO, we could not have done it alone if it were not for your generosity and support. Malo 'aupito.

NUKU'ALOFA, Thursday 25th June 2020: GO GREEN! a youth-led community initiative of TYEE, received their Certificate of Sponsorship from the Tonga Health Promotion Foundation this morning at the Epworth Hall. It is indeed an honour to be welcomed into the fight and movement against Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) in Tonga, or as the Minister of Health, Hon. Associate Professor 'Amelia Afuha’amango Tu'ipulotu quoted, this “tsunami” (NCD) invading and terrorizing the health of our people.
The question is, how can the youth contribute? And ensuring that our contribution is sustainable and applicable to the other vulnerable unemployed youth who are still out there. We like to believe, the answer to that is here with us in TYEE! We are determined to challenge each and every staff and registered youth of TYEE to make a difference in our fight of NCD in Tonga. “The youth should lead today”, -Hon. Minister 'Amelia Afuha’amango Tu'ipulotu. TYEE GO GREEN! is proud to team up with Tonga Health and we are grateful for their wonderful support and sponsorship. This will enable TYEE to further our shared objectives in promoting an active and healthy Tonga. After all, your health is your responsibility. It's our home, our future, our responsibility. A collaboration effort between TYEE GO GREEN!, TOP Restaurant and Lounge and South Pacific Mozuku Tonga (SPM) Due to the impact of the current pandemic of covid 19 and Tropical Cyclone Harold, TYEE is working and talking with Partners and Sponsors - one by one - about how TYEE services could be of assistance, value-add and giving back to them and their respective organisations in return for their generosity and support. TYEE value and appreciate their support and we endure continuing to develop and maintain our partnership. We will continue to reach out to every single one of our partners/sponsors in the next weeks and month.
As an outcome of those meetings and talks with two of our Sponsors, TYEE managed to connect and introduce the Mozuku /Seaweed /Limu Tanga'u products, of the SOUTH PACIFIC MOZUKU (SPM) TONGA to the owners/managers of The TOP Restaurant and Lounge in Nuku'alofa. As a result, TYEE, SPM TONGA and The TOP are working together in collaborations to host the first Mozuku and Cocktail Tasting Event on Friday, 3rd July 2020, and this is just the beginning. There are more to this collaborative effort in which we are pleased to be a part of. It is our wish that those shared common values and objectives could be the foundation of our upcoming talks with partners/sponsors to hopefully lead us to creating more values and making a greater impact for all, today and beyond - especially during these challenging times. Together, we are better and stronger! by Live Mafi, TYEE GO GREEN! Program Coordinator Saturday, 6th June 2020, Nuku'alofa: Empowering the youth to take responsibility for their future was how we ended our GO GREEN! Youth Market, Saturday, 6th June. We left the spectators with an event to remember and our youth feeling motivated and eager to make a change. With over 100 participants altogether excluding the spectators on the venue and our existing sponsors from some of the biggest corporations both locally, such as Digicel Group, Bank of the South Pacific, Solutions Consulting House Ltd, TOP Restaurant and Lounge whom kindly sponsored our additional prizes, and internationally such as, Rise & Shine Australia as Gold Sponsor whom for the first time sponsored an Event outside of Australia through Cash and Food Prizes. The South Pacific Mozuku Tonga Ltd, an internationally well-known branded company, who continued to support the initiative by entrusting TYEE GO GREEN! to promote and sell 50 of their seaweed packs and generously donating 30% of each sale to the GO GREEN! initiative. I am proud to say, the GO GREEN! Volunteers managed to sell the 50 packs on the event day. A big Malo ‘Aupito for the continued support from these Sponsors that enabled our youth to make the best of the 3 hours on the venue and gain the necessary practical work experience that will better them in their search for work and creating their own work being youth entrepreneurs. We started this GO GREEN! cycle with 30 Youth Volunteers which is double the number of Volunteers from our previous Event. Altogether, our registrations include SWAP with 25 participants which is also twice the number of our previous SWAP participants, 16 participants for our Market Stalls (with 10 of them for the Cuisine & Food Category Competition) which is triple the number of our previous participants, and 12 Teams to compete for our Zumba Competition, which was astonishing given that this is the first time a Zumba Competition has ever been done in such a manner. The response we got for this event was impressive. To think our people, the youth especially will hesitate to spend money due to COVID-19 but something about our Events keep them coming back for more. For the first time in GO GREEN! history we hosted and catered for more than 100 people on the day of the event and created probably one of the biggest networking platforms for our Youths in Tonga. With over a thousand pa’anga raised from this event alone, and the increasing desire and interest shown towards the initiative, it is safe to say - we are heading in the right direction and growing. As an outcome of this event, one of the biggest health organisations in Tonga, Tonga Health Promotion Foundation, is now on board as not only a Partner but also as Sponsor of our youth-led community initiative. Tonga Health Promotion Foundation is appointed by the Government of Tonga and supported by Australian Aid. In a time span of just 6 months, we have collaborated and partnered up with some of the biggest corporations in Tonga, hosted one of the most youth-driven and youth-inspiring Events and created an army of one simultaneously. We ended our event successfully, with all targets met from all sides, and set the bar high for our youth-led and youth-driven initiatives. The beauty of working with youth, once you inspire them from within, the sky is not the limit yet. We thank everyone who came to support our event and we look forward to seeing you again at the next one. TYEE GO GREEN! our home, our future, our responsibility. Acknowledging the assistance and supports received from the following organisations:
