Vava'u Island also known as "Lolo 'a Halaevalu, Fatafata Mafana, Vava'u Lahi".

Vava'u is situated in the northern group of islands in the Kingdom of Tonga. Offering pristine beaches, untouched islands and all year round activities like diving, sailing, fishing and whale swimming. It's the travel destination for those looking to 'get off the beaten trail' ~Vava'u Guide.

Vava'u "Your Request Is Our Mission".

The wait is over for Vava'u Youth, Businesses and Employers. "Your Request Is Our Mission".  You can read about our mission here.  This is the opportunity you have been waiting for.  TYEE will be conducting our first visit to Vava'u this month, from the 23rd - 27th April 2018.  Watch this space for more details to come.

Youth and Employment

Picture
Youth and Employment may be the greatest issue of our time in Tonga to address, and how Tonga finds meaningful work for now and the next generation!

TYEE believes that youth employment in Tonga will be a powerful predictor of progress out of poverty, and this is a clear indicator of economic and social progress.

Our commitment and our new strategy - we want to help thousands of youth, especially young women to find meaningful and fulfilling work opportunities in Tonga. This is of course not about a number. It is about enabling our Tonga young men and women to confidently lift themselves out of poverty and become self-dependent. In return, youth will eventually assist in developing and growing Tonga's economy as employees and young entrepreneurs.

But of course, we can't do this alone. We want to partner, as much as possible, with Tongan organisations; governments, development partners, private sector and employers, educational providers, and most importantly - young people, because they have the greatest stake in the outcomes.

TYEE's ultimate goal is to address the youth employment challenges in Tonga by helping the young school leavers aged 18 to 29.

We are excited about this wonderful opportunity and new development for Vava'u to help the young people into their first or new jobs by bridging the gap between the youth, businesses and employers.

We take this opportunity to acknowledge the support which we have received from the Government of Australia and Tonga Skills. TYEE is able to expand its services to Vava'u through our valuable partnership with the Government of Australia and Tonga Skills.  With their generosity and support it's enabling our vision and mission to be realised and scaled up - giving hope to our young people in preparing and empowering them to enter the workforce.

What TYEE is looking for

TYEE wants to work with partners who are willing and committed to addressing the youth employment challenges in Tonga.  To improve youth employment condition in Tonga, we won't be asking you - what can we do for you? But rather, we'll ask you - what can we do together to influence and inspire others and change for impact?
We want to partner with Tonga youth

  • school leavers, aged 18 to 29, who are looking for work
  • male and female
  • have the legal right to work in Tonga
  • singles, married, single parents, youth with a disability - all are welcome.
  • who are looking for career advice, technical support in business startups (and technology).
We want to partner with Businesses and  Employers of Government and the Private Sector

  • who have a vision, an economic pathway and a commitment to address youth employment challenges
  • who have job vacancies to fill
  • who are looking for new staff
  • who can provide apprenticeship opportunities and meaningful work experience
  • who can provide mentorship support and on the job training.

At the end of the day, a job is about so much more than money.  It's about one's self-worth being valued and respected. Looking after yourself, your family, and the people you love.  It is also about giving back to society and paving the way for those who will follow.

When people have the self-worth of work being valued and respected - they are invested in the future. If we get it right together, TYEE believes  that thousands young Tongans entering the workforce can be thousands of reasons to be optimistic about the future.
